How much sugar should we eat daily?
Sugar has many aliases and disguises, which makes it hard to calculate how much of it we eat daily. For example, its 7:30 in the morning and I just drank a 12 oz bottle of ginger beer that had 33 grams of sugar which is 7 grams over my recommended daily limit. So I am already starting off my day over the recommended daily limit.
The American Heart Association (AHA), recommends the maximum amount of added sugars men should eat daily are 150 calories (37.5 grams or 9 teaspoons) and women: 100 calories per day (25 grams or 6 teaspoons).
The World Health Organization recommends the maximum amount of sugar for children, ages 4-6, is 19 grams or 5 teaspoons, ages 7-10, 24 grams or 6 teaspoons and ages 11 and older 30 grams or 7 teaspoons.
